We are so excited to make theatre with you this summer!

YPT Drama School is thrilled to offer eight weeks of dynamic and engaging Summer Drama Camps from June 30 – August 22 for campers entering SK–Grade 12. Students will explore their creativity, discover fun new ways to express themselves, and perform on a YPT stage for family and friends at the end of camp! YPT Summer Camps take place at YPT 161 Studios and our theatre spaces across the street at 165 Front Street East.

Back by popular demand, we’re offering our Junior and Teen Intensive Camps, Musical Theatre Camp and a brand new Theatre Leaders Camp! See all camp details below.

At YPT Summer Drama Camps, students will…

• Explore acting, voice, movement and character creation
• Gain confidence and creativity through drama exercises and improv activities
• Work collaboratively with peers to foster teamwork, communication and trust
• Play drama games, make new friends and have fun!
• Create and perform their own original play on a YPT stage on the final day of camp!

Please Note:

• Summer Camp 2025 registration will direct you to a NEW online ticketing portal. To process your registration, you will be required to create a new YPT account, even if you currently have an account. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact our Box Office at YPTBoxOffice@youngpeoplestheatre.org.
• With the exception of our SK programming, all of our Summer Camp programs run for two weeks. SK Summer Drama Camps run for one week.
• There are no camps on July 1 and August 4, 2025.

Junior Intensive Camp
(Entering Gr. 7-8)

After a sold-out run last summer, we are thrilled to bring back our Junior Intensive Summer Camp! This program is designed for campers entering Grades 7–8 who want to develop their acting and theatre-making skills, while creating and performing their own play. This exciting and immersive two-week program is perfect for students ready to take their creativity to the next level!

Campers will…

• Work with a professional director to create a new theatrical work
• Expand their voice, movement and improvisation skills
• Work with classical and contemporary texts to enhance their scene study and performance techniques
• Collaborate with peers to build a strong ensemble
• Perform their original play on a YPT stage for friends and family at the end of camp
• Play theatre games, create new work and HAVE FUN!

Teen Intensive Camp
(Entering Gr. 9-12)

Back by popular demand! The Teen Intensive is designed for campers entering Grades 9-12 who are passionate about theatre and eager to advance their skills in an exciting and rigorous two-week camp. This in-depth program is perfect for students with experience in drama and theatre who want to further develop their craft and create original work.

Campers will…

• Work with a professional director to create a new theatrical work
• Refine their voice, movement and acting techniques
• Explore classical and contemporary texts to strengthen their scene study and performance skills
• Collaborate with peers to build a strong, dynamic ensemble
• Perform their original play on a YPT stage for friends and family at the end of camp
• Play theatre games, create new work and HAVE FUN!

*HST will be added to the price of this camp. With tax included, the total price will be $915.30.

Musical Theatre Camp
(Entering Gr. 1-3, 4-6, 7-8)

At Musical Theatre Camp, students entering Grades 1-3, 4-6 and 7-8 will explore singing, dancing and acting – becoming an ensemble of “triple threat” performers. Campers will work on songs and scenes from a professional musical, allowing them to develop multiple theatrical skills while having fun with friends along the way!

Campers will:

• Refine their singing, dancing and acting skills, guided by professional artist educators
• Work collaboratively with their peers to foster teamwork and confidence
• Have the opportunity to take leadership as choreographers, directors and musicians
• Bring songs and scenes inspired by a professional musical to life!
• Play drama games, sing songs, dance, laugh with new friends and have fun!
• Perform musical songs and scenes for friends and family on a YPT stage at the end of the camp!

Theatre Leaders
(Entering Gr. 9-12)

Theatre Leaders Camp is for students entering Grades 9-12 who have a passion for Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) and enjoy coaching and learning to work with younger students. In this exciting new program, students will spend two weeks creating an original TYA performance while also developing their leadership skills by facilitating workshops in Kindergarten – Grade 6 camps. This program is perfect for students looking to expand their skills in both leadership and theatre-making.

Campers will:

• Work with a professional TYA artist educator to create a new theatrical work for young audiences
• Develop their voice, movement and acting skills, with a focus on performing for young audiences
• Strengthen their leadership skills through leading drama activities and exercises in younger camp programs
• Perform their original play on a YPT stage for SK–Grade 6 campers and their families!
• Play games, create new work, laugh with friends and HAVE FUN!
