It is so incredible to be welcoming students back – in-person – to our Drama School at YPT! We’re offering after-school classes on Tuesdays for Gr. 5-6. In-person classes will take place in brand new classrooms at YPT 161 Studios (161 Frederick Street) – just across the street from our theatre on Front Street East. In these fresh new spaces for play-making, children and youth will investigate the world around them in fun and creative ways, and tell the stories that matter to them. Grade 5-6

In the fall term, students build core theatre skills in movement, voice and character. Confidence and creative expression is developed through drama exercises and improvisation. In the winter term, theatre skills are deepened through story building, character creation and performance techniques. Students will learn how to transform their unique ideas into a play form. And in the final spring term, using the skills they have learned, students collaborate to create their own play and perform it on stage. New students are welcome throughout the year; however each term builds upon the last. Enrolling in all three provides the most comprehensive learning experience.
