Musical Theatre Ensemble is YPT’s newest ensemble program for students in Grades 7–12.

This program is designed for committed students interested in expanding and refining their musical theatre skills and techniques. Throughout the program, students will develop their singing, dancing, and acting while simultaneously creating an original 30–45 minute revue-style musical performance. In this program, students will refine their collaboration and ensemble skills while embracing their individual roles as emerging theatre creators.

What is a Musical Theatre Revue?

A musical theatre revue combines songs and scripts from multiple musicals into a new, original and exciting production.

What to Expect from Musical Theatre Ensemble:

• The creation process starts with choosing a theme that inspires the songs and scripts selected for the performance.
• Students and their director work together through improvisation and discussion to develop the storyline, characters, dialogue and staging.
• This process allows for a highly original, ensemble-based performance where the final piece reflects the unique ideas of the students.

The program is held in classrooms at YPT 161 Studios (161 Frederick St.) – just across the street from our theatre on Front Street East. From January to June, the Musical Theatre Ensemble meets on Sundays from 1:00PM – 4:00PM.

Please Note:

• Auditions will take place in person at YPT 161 Studios  (161 Frederick St.) in November
• Musical Theatre Ensemble’s final performance will be held the weekend of June 6-7, 2026
• There are no classes February 15, March 22, April 5 and May 17, 2026
• The class price includes tax. If your child is 14 years old or younger, tax will be refunded to you.
