Q&A with Lauren

Name your favourite YPT production:

Hana’s Suitcase.

Describe your favourite Drama School memory:

It was the night of one of my final performances in Drama School. My classmates and I stayed after school to practise the play before our parents came. But because we were all very close friends, we had a lot of trouble focusing. Let’s just say, we hadn’t used our rehearsal time very wisely. It had come down to the night of the show, and we finally needed to pull it together! But no one knew their lines. We were an utter mess. And I just thought…. there is no way that this is going to be a good show. And somehow, when we finally went on to do the real thing, not one of us forgot our line. I was in awe. It was truly a miracle.

What would the central theme of a play written about you be?

The theme would be determination. I’ve never been afraid of a good challenge!

As the 2019/20 Season theme is the Seven Ancestral Teachings, what is something you appreciate about Toronto and why?

Something that I really love about Toronto is the wide range of cultural events that take place here in the city. I really enjoy going out to experience the art, food, practises and work of other people. There are so many opportunities to immerse yourself in the vibrant communities that exist within this city. It has also been incredibly rewarding to be an actor in Toronto’s rich and diverse artistic community. There is so much spectacular work to be seen, and so many inspiring artists to be met!
